Listening to the HVAC expert paid off
When the HVAC professional kept saying that our HVAC proposal was old, I didn’t pay him any mind at first.
- I thought he was discriminating against our HVAC proposal because it wasn’t nice enough or something, and eventually he explained that it wasn’t that our HVAC proposal was lousy, it was that it wasn’t as energy efficient as the newer models plus that’s just the way it goes.
Well, I told this HVAC professional our outdated philosophy, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t service it.’ He agreed in most cases that’s the way to go, however you have to be smart when it comes to pricey HVAC equipment. He said that surely somebody would want to buy our outdated HVAC as it would be of nice use to somebody, maybe only for parts however those outdated parts easily have value. He said if I sold the HVAC, I could update to a modern one plus care about the energy savings. I had to admit, the HVAC professional was making a lot of sense plus I no longer felt offended about him telling me to go for an update. It wasn’t as if I had some loving attachment to our HVAC system, I just thought I should keep using it until it was finished. Even with cars, the two of us sell them plus update to something modern or trade in at the dealership, so why not do that with HVAC equipment? So I did as the guy said, found a purchaser for our outdated proposal which was only 10 years outdated mind you. I got a pretty nice deal for it plus our modern HVAC proposal entirely is energy efficient.
