Getting a ton of wasted energy with the HVAC in the house
I’m not really a sleuth type man.
- Nor do I get all wrapped up in who does it or anything of that nature.
However, if solving a mystery will save me a good amount of money then I’ll quickly put on my Sherlock Holmes hat and get to it. This was the case recently with a pretty strange situation regarding the Heating and A/C in our dwelling. The people I was with and I are sort of new to this section and I guess every one of us totally underestimated just how tough the northern Winter can actually be. Both my partner and I are from the South where the Heating and A/C heat pump is the heating & cooling method of preference. In fact, none of us had even seen an oil furnace before every one of us moved up here. So when every one of us bought our household, I really had no idea in the least just how the oil furnace worked or what I was supposed to do. The Heating and A/C appliance in this house is only about 5 years aged and the dwelling inspector said it was a good enough Heating and A/C unit. But as the Winter really took hold, it seemed as though the oil furnace was running on a regular basis. Yet, every one of us were far from actually being cozy. Actually, it felt kind of like a severe draft. I had the Heating and A/C people out to have a look at the oil furnace and they assured me that it was in amazing shape and more than capable of heating our dwelling. I informed the Heating and A/C guy what every one of us were experiencing and how strange that was. The Heating and A/C tech suggested that I buy an instant read thermometer gun. Then, go outside and scour the exterior of our dwelling to find the leaks.
