My friend Tim is an HVAC technician
I met my closest friend Tim while we were sharing a desk in the 6th grade.
It was advanced math. We struggled while studying some of the early algebra the two of us were being exposed to. Tim and I became buddies and we kept taking classes together until the two of us graduated from middle school. I started classes at a local community school while Tim went to a trade school so he could get into the work field doing something with generous pay compared to the minimum wage tasks that we’d worked since the two of us were 25. Tim’s path led him into an apprenticeship with a local heating and cooling contractor. By the time I finished with school, he was already making $25 an hour as a crewmember on a Heating Air Conditioning installation team. He was well on the way to becoming a master contractor in the next 10 years. I’m pretty fortunate to have someone so close to me who can work on my cooling system or my furnace for me so I don’t ever have to worry about it. I insist on paying full price, even though Tim regularly gives me a huge discount when he is done. It would be great if I could exchange my services for his, but I don’t suppose how call center experience could ever materialize into help I could give to him. Regardless, I really won’t ever have to worry about not having someone who is reputable in the heating and cooling corporation right on the other end of a PC call whenever I need him. And since the two of us live in the same neighborhood, the drive only takes three minutes. I’m fortunate to have my friend Tim in my life.
