My friend is my HVAC technician
I met my friend Tom when we were sharing a desk in the 6th grade.
- It was advanced math class and the two of us struggled learning some of the early algebra the two of us were being exposed to.
Tom and I abruptly became learning buddies and kept taking classes together until the two of us graduated from college. I started classes at a local community college at the same time that Tom went to a trade college so he could get into the job field doing something steady with generous pay compared to all of the minimum wage tasks that he and I had worked at in the past. Tom’s path led him into an apprenticeship with a local heating and cooling corporation, and by the time I finished college, he was already making $25 an hour as crewmember on an Heating, Ventilation & A/C replacement team. Tom was well on his way to becoming a master worker in the next 10 years. I guess I’m lucky to have someone so close to me who is able to work on my A/C or my gas furnace for me. I don’t ever have to worry. I insist on paying full price, but he consistently gives me a sizable discount when he is done. It would be fantastic if I could exchange some services for his, but I don’t think that my call center experience could ever materialize into any help I could supply him. Regardless, I genuinely won’t ever have to worry about not having someone reputable in the heating and cooling industry. He’s right on the other end of a phone call whenever I need him. And since the two of us live in the same village, the drive over from his place just takes a couple of minutes. I’m really lucky to have Tom as a friend!
